Our Church

Our Church

The Methodist Church is a mainstream Christian Church. It works in partnership with other denominations whenever possible. But there are certain emphases in the Methodist culture which make it distinctive.

The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission
It does this through:
WORSHIP
The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love.
LEARNING & CARING
The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care.
SERVICE
The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice.
EVANGELISM
The Church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ

Our particular Church
As a Church on the edge of the main Kingswood shopping area we should be, and very much want to be, part of the community. Our Church is for the very young, quite young, the not so young and the unsure. It is for individuals, couples and families and you can join us for worship, fellowship, socialising and children’s and young people’s activities. We hope we can offer something for most, if not all, people, just view the other pages on this web site to see what goes on. If you cannot see anything that you want, please contact a member of the Church whose details can be found on the contact page. I would hope that one thing we could guarantee if you were to visit us in person is that you would be sure of a warm welcome.

KINGSWOOD METHODIST CHURCH IS COMMITTED TO THE SAFEGUARDING OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS AND TO ENSURING THEIR WELL BEING,
We have a Safe from Harm policy and this is it.
As the people of the Methodist Church of Kingswood we are concerned with the wholeness of each individual within God's purpose for everyone. We seek to safeguard all members of the church community, of all ages. It is the responsibility of each one of us to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and young people.
The Minister in pastoral charge, along with the Church Stewards and the Church Council, are responsible for the implementation of a policy of safeguarding our children. Everyone in the church community will be affected by this policy.
A "Safeguarding Policies, Procedure and Code of Practice" booklet will be provided for everyone working within the church with children, young people and vulnerable adults. It gives recommendations on ways to work in order to minimise situations where abuse may occur and guidelines on how to deal with discovery or disclosure of abuse. It details our procedures on appointing and supervising workers involved with children, young people and vulnerable adults
A copy of the Safeguarding Booklet is held in pastoral charge, by the Reverend PJ Jackson. Please ask if you would like to view this document.

The purpose of Kingswood Methodist Church is to respond to God's Love in Christ and to live out that love in God's world.
